Charley's Elephant Garlic
Type: Elephant Garlic
Category: Artichoke
Description:
Organically grown.
Originating in the Mediterranean, this bulbing leek was brought to the Scio settlement in Oregon by Slavic immigrants. Elephant garlic is actually a leek and has a milder flavor compared to regular garlic - it’s subtle and slightly garlicky in a sweet, nutty way. Perfect for folks who find garlic too strong for their palate.
Stores up to 9 months after harvest; use by the end of March.
Unofficially named after our fellow beekeeping and gardening friend Charley that provided us with the initial seed stock.
*Due to the massive size of elephant garlic, a selection of half-pound and pound increments may result in receipt of loose cloves, which is completely fine for planting and eating purposes.
If you prefer an intact larger bulb, please select the “whole bulb” option.
